About us
St James is...
A community: We are a medium sized church with over a 100 members. This is large enough to have people from all ages present but small enough so that we can support each other as a family. We welcome all to our church services, regardless of age, or any other factor. A low church: We only robe for the 9:00 service and civic occasions. The dress code for people attending is very informal. We do use words from Common Worship and BCP, but are relaxed and invitational in the way that we worship. Our music in services varies from service to service from traditional organ to worship band with modern songs. A diverse church: The ages of our members range from 0 to 90-somethings with people from all ages in between. We are a growing church. An active church: We have lots of groups for women, men, parents, kids, teenagers, creatives, reflectives, musicians and others. We have house groups, discipleship groups, and are also involved in our local community with members helping the homeless, food bank, seamen and others. A place for people to explore faith: We often have people come to the church looking to explore faith and bring questions about life and their place in the world. We love to walk with them as they do so, and regularly run a course, such as an Alpha course, as they explore with us. |
